In an earlier seminar series we explored a wide range of issues, the thrust of which are represented in the resulting book, Dinham, A, Furbey R & Lowndes V (2009) Faith in the Public Realm: problems, policies, controversies Bristol: Policy Press [Click here for order form]

This series will pick those issues up and explore them anew in the context of "youth and religion".

Some of the key issues raised were:

• questions of faith leadership and representation
• modes of democratic engagement
• issues in participation
• questions associated with community cohesion
• governance
• prevention of extremism

These issues - and others - will be explored through overarching themes for the events which are:

• Young people's participation and representation in public faith based activities
• The role of faith in the formation of young people's identities
• Intergenerational differences in relation to faith and the impacts of this.
